Jennifer Wright is an experienced Clinical Psychologist who has worked with adults for many years, helping people with depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, stress, and significant life transitions. She brings a thoughtful, warm and respectful approach to therapy, with an emphasis on helping clients better understand themselves and the patterns that may be keeping them stuck.
Jennifer works in a mindful and integrative way, tailoring therapy to the needs of each person. Her approach is strongly informed by body-centred Hakomi therapy, which explores the connection between mind, body, emotion and early experience. She may also draw on CBT, hypnotherapy, mindfulness-based strategies and other evidence-informed approaches where appropriate.
Jennifer believes that change begins with awareness, and enjoys helping clients to notice with kindness their thoughts, feelings, bodily responses and relational patterns.
Background
Jennifer has worked in private practice as a Clinical Psychologist since 1994. Previous to that, she worked in a major teaching hospital, a psychiatric clinic, a facility for the elderly, and a unit focussing on neuroscience.
Jennifer completed her Masters Degree at the University of WA. She has studied Hypnotherapy and is has been certified in the Hakomi Method of Mind/Body Psychotherapy. She has also worked as a journalist, in Australia and overseas.
