Therapy Approach
My approach is to offer my clients a safe, empathetic and non-judgemental environment in which they feel heard, respected and supported. During the first session, I will take the time to get to know my clients, their history, and discuss their goals for therapy. In subsequent sessions, we'll have the opportunity to dig deeper and learn practical strategies to help grow and transform. For couples, I employ the Gottman Method of Therapy, backed by over 40 years of research on relationship success. With individual clients, I blend psychodynamic and person-centred therapy, delving into unconscious thoughts, emotions, and past experiences that shape behaviour and relationships.

I chose psychotherapy and counselling as my profession because of my strong desire to assist people in overcoming life's obstacles. My passion for mental health and human relationships, coupled with my natural ability to listen and create a comfortable space for others, drives my commitment to helping those in need. Each day, I appreciate the chance to support my clients. Being a therapist is more than just a profession for me; it's a calling, and I'm grateful every day to have a positive impact on the lives of those I serve.

My professional and personal development has been greatly influenced by three philosophical approaches: Gottman Therapy for couples and Psychodynamic and Person-Centred therapy for individuals. These approaches underpin my counselling philosophy.
Gottman Method of Therapy, drawing from over 40 years of research on successful relationships, forms the foundation for my work with couples. My focus is on improving their communication, conflict resolution, and fostering positive interactions. I identify and address negative communication patterns and behaviours to enhance their relationship. The method also includes assessments and interventions for specific issues like infidelity, trust, and intimacy.
Psychodynamic and Person-Centred therapy aims to guide clients in self-exploration, identifying obstacles to their growth. Its primary goal is exploring and understanding the unconscious thoughts, emotions, and past experiences that influences a person's behaviour and relationships. By guiding my clients in exploring and processing these experiences, we can bring them to a conscious level of awareness and work together to resolve any unresolved conflicts or traumas. -
I have a keen interest in various aspects of health and human journey. Personally, I'm passionate about mental health and emotional well-being, and I believe in the importance of self-care and resilience. On the broader human journey, I find topics related to personal growth, relationships, and the pursuit of happiness intriguing.

I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. I recognize that we're all at distinct life stages, requiring personalized experiences, so I tailor my methods accordingly to the needs of my clients. My goal is to always offer my clients a safe, empathetic, and non-judgemental environment in which they feel heard, respected, and supported. In the first session, I will take the time to get to know my clients their history and discuss their goals for therapy. In subsequent sessions, we'll have the opportunity to dig deeper and learn practical strategies to help grow and transform.

It's challenging to pinpoint when a client will begin to sense progress, as it varies individually. Progress timelines are influenced by your unique concerns. After your initial session, we'll develop a personalized treatment plan to guide your healing journey. The number of sessions needed depends on your specific needs and goals. In general, research shows that around 90% of individuals experience mood improvement after just one counselling session.

Therapy has been incredibly valuable in my personal growth. It has not only enhanced my self-understanding but also deepened my comprehension of others, enriching my relationships on a profound level.
-
What I find most fulfilling about being a therapist is that it aligns with my inherent curiosity and passion for learning. Through therapy, I can explore the intricacies of my clients' lives, and in turn, they embark on a journey of self-discovery. This curiosity leads us to unravel various mysteries and uncover the roots of those mysteries, which is a truly an enriching process.

Don't we all? I'm no exception to the rule.

In my view, the most significant problem confronting the world today is climate change and its far-reaching consequences for our planet's well-being and future.

Certainly, books can be incredibly inspiring. Here are a few that have had a profound impact on me: "The Deepest Well" by Dr. Nadine Burke Harris, "Mating in Captivity" by Esther Perel, and "The Body Keeps the Score" by Bessel van der Kolk. These works explore various aspects of human psychology and well-being, offering valuable insights and perspectives.
