Philosophy & Vision

Hello and welcome.
How would you like your therapy journey to be? I’m an experienced trauma therapist working with individuals, couples, and families across diverse life experiences. My international work with varied communities has shaped a culturally sensitive, compassionate approach. You will find a professional and supportive space where you can safely explore challenges and create meaningful, lasting change. I work with complex traumas, childhood adverse experience, sexual assault and sexual issues, one off events of rupture or multiple traumas.

Together, we will work collaboratively with insight and understanding, balanced with my skills and your knowledge that help you manage emotional distress, strengthen boundaries, and restore a sense of safety in your body. You remain in control of what and how much you choose to explore. Family mediations available.

Background

I have worked in organizations, schools and NGO's.

I have a background in Industrial Chemistry and education. I have had a varied life of teaching, leading, project managing and developing businesses and educational quality management, before turning to counselling.

I have been in private practice for around 7 years and in counselling for 13 years now.

    Therapy Approach

In family and relationship therapy we analyse the drains on the relations and build strength based skills to over come the "drains'. You learn non-violent communication skills and work on your individual reactive parts that may come from your past history.

The strength based skills help you live and manage today and try and built a future as you vision it.

EMDR goes beyond this to work on your flash backs and triggers.

My modalities are seamless interwoven and it flows as with you help you in the best way possible.

    A conversation with Sally Singh

    • My journey began when I was choosing what to do at university but counselling was not a profession my parent thought stood in the cultural arena. I therefore studied science and first became a laboratory technician and than a teacher. In my teaching career I was involved in with international students and students struggling at school's welfare.
My Principal saw my potential in this work and offered for me to change my pathway and I took it and ran with it.
It is the best thing I ever did.
I have now transitioned into trauma therapy but still have a soft spot for young people.
    • My PD is guided by the areas I notice gaps in. I wish to be good at my work and to be able to help my clients in the best ways I can.
    • Holistic health of human is important from mental health to physical health, from spiritual health to personal growth.
    • I use narrative therapy and EMDR informed by IFS and somatic work. I draw on "snippets" of various other modalities if it is useful in the moment for the work to move forward.
    • The client themselves start to notice change and they will inform me when we reflect on the sessions. Everyone's journey is personal, for some they notice change in one session and for others it may take longer.
    • Therapy for me personally has made a difference every time I turned to it. As a professional it has given me a job which I enjoy and it does not feel like "going to work".

Sitting with people's stories and their pains and seeing them move forward from their stuck points is the always great to see.
    • Along side helping people overcome their traumas, manage triggers, flashbacks and nightmares, I like the cultural work I do and the work with with race based trauma.
The relief in people when they start to see themselves in the renewed identities and move past their stuckness.
    • Oh yes..... I have bad hair days. But I also have days that I intentionally book off once a month to manage the bad hair days.

Good support is also important on bad hair days. I am lucky to have various "hair dressers" around me.
    • The most significant problem we face is the our thoughts and social constructs that cause us to get stuck in "labels" or hyped up stories.
    • Rumi and his poetry are amazing. I think his work talks to mental health in so many ways. To think that the theories we think are discovered in modern day were actually in poetry centuries ago ....this is amazing.
